It´s been a while since I learnt to ski and I thought I would share a few of the places that I think are great destinations for a Family Ski holiday. Switzerland, Spain and Andorra are my top picks. Here´s why:
4 Valleys Verbier Switzerland
The 4 Valleys region in the Canton du Valais. (aka Verbier) has all the winter enchantment you would expect. Expect to enjoy Swiss fondues, delicious chocolate and pretty snowy scenes of the landscapes.
Fly into Geneva or Milan to get to this region in Central Europe. Pick one of the fabulous holiday rental chalets in the Swiss Alps in the region, ideal for familiy getaways, large groups and of couples ski trips.

Family Ski Holiday in the Alps
There are great apres ski and nightlife options in this ski resort, so if you Book your ski holidays in the Alps you´ll get the most of the season. With lots of diverse ski terrain amongst the runs in the 4 Vallees, whether you are intermediate or advanced skiers there will be great days to be had. Season runs from November to April, with January probably being the best time for snow there.
It is also a resort that is popular with celebrities so it has lots of glamour and exclusive boutiques to browse once you have left the slopes.
Sierra Nevada Spain
The highest point in the Iberian Peninsula is Mulhacen, part of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Granada province, Spain. So its no surprise that you can enjoy Spanish Sunshine while skiing in this resort. Pradollano is the centre of ski activites in this Andalusian region.
The season started in December 2024 and will end in April. Recommended for beginners and families this resort has 100kms of piste when most slopes are open. The best day for skiing is Wednesdays as its the day when fewer skiers are in the resort.
Merlo Blanco is a great area to have fun on the magic carpet, toboggans and sledges for little ones who arent skiing so much yet. This play area has a small fee to use but its so much fun for families.
Andorra Ski Holiday
This principality nestled between France and Spain is well known for its skiing and duty free shopping. With 210kms of piste and apres ski fun in Pas de la Casa this is a firm favourite of snowboarders and skiers alike. Andorra has a good balance of pistes for beginners and skiers of all levels.
The largest resort is Grandvalira and best for those looking for uncrowded slopes. Soldeu is one of the most popular resorts and the largest ski area in the Pyreenes. This is also a good option for expert skiers who can try a high ski area known as Ordino Arcalis. Andorra has lots of fun activites for children and teenagers over the winter season, so your ski holiday will be memorable for all of you.
The nearest international airport is Barcelona. There is a bus service connecting Barcelona to Andorra. Another option as Andorra has its own airport woould be a connecting flight from Madrid and arrive directly.
