The city of Granada has inspired the Creative Director at Loewe, Stuart Vevers, to design a handbag named after the Andalusian city.
Having previously worked for British brand Mulberry, Ververs has also worked alongside Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton and collaborated closely with Luella Bartley. He certainly brings a wealth of experience as well as up to date ideas to the Spanish fashion house which is based in Madrid.
The beautiful historic settings around the city of Granada were carefully chosen to film the advertisement for the Granada shoulder bag. Hoping that the ad will recreate the magical feel of the location onscreen. The backdrop for the shooting includes places such as Carmen de los Mártires, a 19th century house with ornamental gardens with views of the nearby Alhambra palace and the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. They also feature the Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo which is a Moorish house or palace from the XIII century and the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation .
Loewe part of the LMVH group filmed the advertisment in March 2012 of this elegant addition to their 2012 Oro collection. Stuart Vevers was inspired on a visit to the city in Summer of 2011, he speaks of a sensational and magical experience. In a recent Financial Times Interview the Cumbrian born designer explains how Flamenco, the history of Loewe and the country inspires his designs. In 2006 Vevers was awarded Accessory Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Design Awards, so the Granada bag is clearly in good hands.
The golden colour shoulder bag is now available online at a cost of 1600 euros, it´s an elegant bag, practical and sophisticated, with detailing which is typical of the Loewe brand. Hand crafted suede details, iguana skin in the same tone as the bag and a luxurious metallic clasp to fasten. It a a chic accesory to remember the city of the Alhambra .
There is also another design in the Spring Summer 2012 collection named after the Alhambra Palace itself, the Alhambra Tote bag other Loewe designs have been inspired in previous collections such as scarves with geometrical designs inspired by the tiles on the Alhambras walls.
