Sunday Brunch is a handy meal for the weekend
You know how it is, you go out on Saturday for a drink with friends, it gets late.
On Sunday you wake up late and it´s hard to get going.
Sunday Brunch
11am. Perhaps it´s a little too late for breakfast. This is how ´brunch´ came about. Br from Breakfast and unch from Lunch, made the word. This meal replaces breakfast and lunch.
Typical in New York particularly. Served in many places mid morning until 3pm or so.
I was extremely happy to find out the La Platea in Granada have just created their own.
So we can now enjoy brunch in Granada every Sunday. A proper New York Style Sunday right in the centre of Granada.
Last week I went along with fellow Granada blogger Gafas Amarillas to investigate.
They have their brunch ready every Sunday from 11.30am to 1.30pm at their Angel Ganivet location.
It is set up with two menu choices.
New York Style Brunch in Granada
Option 1 – 10.90 euros
- Tea or Coffee
- Orange Juice or Mimosa (Cava & Orange juice)
- Cereals
- Natural Yoghurt
- Eggs and Bacon or Omlette
- Toast
- Brownie
Option 2 – 15.90 euros
- Tea or Coffee
- Orange Juice or Mimosa (Cava & Orange juice)
- Cereals
- Natural Yoghurt
- Toast
- Scrambled eggs or eggs done as you like
- Muffins
- Smoothie Batido
- Club Sandwich with Chicken or Salmon
To get a good view of both options we choose one of each and shared each dish. I really enjoyed the Mimosa and Chicken club Sandwich. Saying that there wasn´t really anything I could fault, the service was impeccable The selection hardly differed from the ones I´ve enjoyed close to Central Park and in Greenwich Village in my trips to New York over the last two years.
Later that day I didn´t eat until evening. It was a filling meal. It really is worth it at only 11 or 16 euros per person. As the first part is a buffet style you can eat as much yoghurt, cereals, fresh fruit as you like.
The word is out, If you go along please make sure there´s a table left for me. I´ll be back again soon to kick off another lazy Sunday.

Excited to try this in a few weeks 🙂 Great Granada posts and tips!
Absolute crxp!! Just called in there just now at 12.30 for brunch.I was the only customer in the whole place.Sat at a table for 4 as I wanted to be by window. Waiter insisted I moved to a table for 2.When I pointed out they were empty he still insisted.I thanked him sarcastically for his service and walked out! Won’t put up with that behaviour here or anywhere else. Now in my fave bar La Bodeguita with a good welcome!
I don´t know why they wanted to change the table but the brunch is fabulous at the Platea.
Great Find, Molly!
Yes, it was all delicious
