The Beauty of Italy: Top Cities to Add to Your Itinerary

The Beauty of Italy: Top Cities to Add to Your Itinerary

Italy is one of those places in the world that has a lot of rich history and culture. Boasting a wealth of beautiful cities, you really are spoilt for choice on which ones to visit first.

Whether it’s your first time in Italy or you’ve ticked off a few places already, here are some of the top cities and regions worth adding to your list this year.

Rome

Rome is definitely one of the best cities when it comes to a wealth of things to see and do while you’re there. Known as the Eternal City, there are many ancient ruins to delight in. From the Pantheon to the Colosseum, there is so much to see and do that you could easily spend a whole week in the city and still have things to tick off.

The Vatican City is an absolute must-see, and not forgetting all of the wonderful dining and bar spots to try out too.

Piazza Duomo Milan Cathedral

Milan

When you think of Milan, you’re likely going to be thinking about fashion. Italy’s fashion capital is home to some of the high-end brands from across the world. The Duomo is where you’ll be able to find a blend of historical architecture, mixed in with the fashion storefronts of the most well-known designer brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Monte Napoleone and Corso Como are my personal favourites after many shopping trips in the Italian Fashion Capital.

If you’re the type of person who likes to shop until they drop, then Milan is the place for you.

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of those spots that’s truly a sight to behold. From the rolling hills to the vineyards that go on forever, it’s a region that’s home to many charming towns and wonderful spots to sit back and relax.

If you’re someone who wants a few activities to do in Tuscany, then you’ll find plenty to keep you well fed, watered, and entertained. It’s a place where you can really get to experience and enjoy the authentic Italian lifestyle.

Florence Cathedral Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore

Florence

Florence is perhaps one of the lesser-visited spots when comparing it to Milan or Rome, for example. However, it’s still a place that you have to visit as you’re taking a tour of the country.

Home to masterpieces like Michelangelo’s David and the Uffizi Gallery, Florence is where you’ll be able to find a wealth of art and Renaissance architecture.

Make sure to book ahead for sights such as the Ufizzi gallery and the most popular visits as there are long queues if you don´t book ahead. Florence is beautiful but popular year round.

River Arno Florence Italy Visit Tuscany

Venice

One of the most wonderful spots to visit while you’re in Italy is Venice. While it’s still above water now, there’s no guarantee that will be the case further down the line. With that being said, it’s a must-see to visit and a place that is picturesque everywhere you turn.

Unique canals are available as far as the eye can see. Enjoy these and the waterways via gondola, a traditional form of transport used throughout the city.

Discover St Mark’s Square and enjoy the wonderful, romantic atmosphere that Venice provides to all of its tourists. As far as Italy goes, it’s one of the best for enjoying the beauty that it holds in every one of these cities and the regions available to visit.
