Fall in love while vacationing in the enchanted region of Alicante. Alicante, located in the southeast of Spain and nestled on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, boasts pristine beaches and captivating historic landmarks. Whether you’re a beach lover or like visiting such sites as the Old Town, Alicante promises the perfect weekend getaway.
Although it’s easy to get caught up in the romance of Alicante, remember to stay safe. Top security tips, like having a VPN for travel, will allow you to enjoy your trip without worrying about risking your private data.
The followight ng are eiideas for an unforgettable Alicante weekend with a partner:
Sunset Walks Along the Explanada de Espana
The famous promenade in Alicante is beloved for good reason. The 600-meter walkway runs along the port and is flanked by majestic palm trees, making it the ideal spot to walk with your partner as the sun sets. Take in the vibrant hues of the promenade’s mosaic patterns while experiencing breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Tour Santa Barbara Castle
A standout in the city of Alicante is the 1,000-year-old Santa Barbara Castle. Declared a national historic site in 1961, the castle is the most visited attraction within Alicante. Explore the castle at your preferred speed—either leisurely climb to its perch or hop on the elevator. The views atop the castle are among Alicante’s best, with a picture-perfect vantage point of the Old Quarter and the coastline. Stop off for Churros and Chocolate at Valor on the
Table for Two at Restaurante Darsena
Alicante is rich in culture, and its elegant cuisine reflects that fact. A favorite among couples is the Restaurante Darsena, found at the city’s marina. Book a table near the windows for an oceanfront view. You and your partner will have a romantic evening while enjoying mouthwatering food in an elegant setting. Local dishes in Alicante are the world reknown Paella of course, delicious fresh fish from the coast and sweet treats such as Horchata (nut drink) or Coca (baked).
Sail the Coast
Rent a sailboat for a private trip along the magical Costa Blanca. Bring a picnic lunch as you enjoy the sea breeze and crystal-clear waters. If you prefer to book in a group there are plenty of options such as sunset cruises on a catamaran or fun options to see the city from the coastline.
Unwind at Postiguet Beach
Postiguet Beach offers an idyllic spot to relax with your partner. Found between the port and Santa Barbara Castle, the beach stretches across more than 900 meters. The water is calm and soothing, while the sand is a beautiful golden brown. The beach is located very close to the town center—meaning you can take a break at any time to grab a quick lunch or share a bottle of wine at one of the local restaurants.
Plan a Wine Tasting
Although the city offers more lively entertainment, you may find more romance when venturing into the Alicante countryside. The area has several wineries, including the Bodegas Enrique Mendoza, Bodegas Cerda, and Bodegas Volver. The region is renowned for producing the finest Fondillon, a sweet dessert wine. Traveling through the vineyard’s rolling hills will create a romantic ambiance for your trip.
Plan a Day Out
There are lots of Tours from Alicante to consider when you are in the area. Perhaps my personal favourite is a visit to nearby Elche. Famous for it´s Palmeral, this unique attraction is a garden full of Palm trees. In fact there are several different sites across the town with these majestic palms. Seen below is the Imperial Palm which is 180 years old!
Couples Massage at Hospes Amerigo
Pamper yourself and your loved one by reserving a spa day at the Hotel Hospes Amerigo. The luxurious spa includes a sauna, fitness area, private treatment rooms, an indoor swimming pool, and a terrace solarium. Customize your massage session with preferred oils and desired intensity levels. After your massage, dine in the hotel’s romantic Azahar Restaurant.
During your weekend in Alicante, always be aware of your surroundings. Avoid carrying a lot of cash with you, better to use your card. A romantic weekend is a good time to disconnect from tech. However if you bring devices, get a VPN for your time away. A VPN will safeguard your data, especially when using public Wi-Fi in hotels or restaurants.
